Private Stock is a premium cigar line produced by Davidoff of Geneva. The brand was born accidentally as a result of a manufacturer setback. Davidoff fans are grateful for that mishap, which gave them access to Davidoff quality cigars at a lower price point. Davidoff is known for their incredibly high standard of quality which come with a higher price. Their legacy is highlighted by their previous collaborative relationship with the Cuban cigar industry. However, the company has many other namesakes such as setting up the first climate-controlled room for cigar storage.
In 1993, Davidoff released a new line called Special T on the heels of its ever popular Special R line. The torcedors were tasked with rolling torpedoes without a mold for over a year and a half. The cigars were rolled in the Dominican Republic and then shipped to Switzerland to be packed. This scenario was the perfect storm. Several bunches did not fit in the boxes because of slight variations in width or length. These cigars were sent back to the factory and thus Private Stock was born. Aficionados loved that Private Stock cigars were available for an affordable price. Davidoff found a way to keep the brand alive and cater their premium cigars to budget-wise customers.
